As previous patient at another Focus location, let me begin by stating that the dysfunction which infects this location is not emblematic of Focus as a whole. With that said, this particular location is a nightmare to deal with. I am an extremely busy law student in a competitive program, and my time is more valuable than even my money, this location has cost me much in the way of both my time and my money. Twice I was scheduled for days when the office was not even open, only to cancel important obligations to arrive to locked doors and no staff present to explain the error. This happened not once, but twice. As if the scheduling debacle wasn't unforgivable enough, the billing department here is borderline criminal. The billing staff for this location will lose documentation, wait months and even years to seek questionable, additional payments, and then blame their failures on the doctor, saying that he is negligent in handling his cases. To me, I cannot imagine a medical professional being so unorganized and unprofessional, and the apparent overcharges and extreme delays in billing, in addition to intermittent, threatening letters, seems more like the desperate attempts of an incompetent billing department attempting to cover their errors, than a doctor mishandling a case file. Either way, this location is run in such a way that an email from Nigerian prince soliciting money for a "business venture" would be more trustworthy than the staff at the Tuscaloosa Focus location. I'm telling everyone I know to avoid this place like the plague, and drive to Birmingham, Hoover, or Mobile to have their mental health needs addressed in a much less predatory manner. I'm not merely disappointed in the service I received from this location, I'm utterly disgusted, and that is at odds with all of the other experiences I've had at other Focus locations. If you value your mental health, please seek treatment elsewhere. Even other Focus locations have warned me about this operation, unfortunately those warnings came too late to save me all of the trouble I've had to deal with.
Dr. Thomas is very knowledgeable and thorough. He has a wonderful personality and you can tell he loves what he does. The wait time is reasonable as well!
